Matt Bowen intercepted a Brett Kimmorley pass four minutes into extra time to give Queensland a remarkable 24-20 Golden Point extra time win over NSW at Suncorp Stadium tonight. The Maroons got off to a flying start in Origin 1 racing out to a 19-0 lead against their more favoured opponents.

The Blues almost pulled off the biggest come from behind win in Origin history. Down by 19 with 30 minutes to play the Blues hit the front 20-19 with eight minutes left on the clock.

NSW Origin coach Ricky Stuart was far from happy after the match when talking about Cowboy Carl Webb. Stuart said, "It's funny how like three or four weeks ago I had a player sent off, third man in, punched a bloke,"

"He got 10 minutes. Tonight that didn't happen. Now if you think it's a whinge then it is a whinge because Carl Webb is going to be playing on the weekend.

"It's another advantage we could have got in the first half but we didn't get any, we got nothing in the first half."
