American Andy Roddick won his third straight Queen's title when he defeated unseeded Croat Ivo Karlovic 7-6 (9-7), 7-6 (7-4). The 22-year-old Roddick became only the third player after fellow American John McEnroe and Lleyton Hewitt to win a hat-trick of Queen's titles.
With both players sending down booming first serves this match went down to the expected tie-breaker in each set. Roddick said after his successful title defense, "We knew it would be a tight match. Just a couple of points here and there."
"Karlovic's serve is probably the biggest weapon in tennis and it was not fun at times. But I've had a great week and I love playing here. I feel pretty comfortable on the grass and I'm looking forward to Wimbledon."
